SHM will have a camp for all NYC children, ages 2-5 years old, during April 22nd - April 26th, for Spring Break. This year, campers will embark on adventures from the farmers market. While some kids may be familiar with various markets in Brooklyn, others are just visiting for the first time. We want this week to be a fun introduction to the ins and outs of a real farmers market and all that it offers.
Get ready for a whirlwind week of market adventures and culinary capers! From tantalizing taste tests to fruity bingo showdowns, each day brings a fresh slice of fun and learning. Unleash your inner foodie with a scavenger hunt, creating natural paintbrushes, tote bag DIY, and a yummy debate: Apple Cider vs. Apple Juice. And let's not forget the grand finale - scrumptious homemade Apple Cider Donuts to wrap up the week in delicious style!

Spring is in the air. With the spring weather comes the opening of NYC local farmers markets. Aside from being a fun outing for your family, a trip to the farmers market is a wonderful way to help children appreciate the food they eat. A large number of children have no idea where the produce in the grocery store actually comes from. We can help!
It's never too early to learn healthy nutrition, especially in very fun ways! Taking the kids to a farmers market is a wonderful way to spend a few hours, quality time on the weekend. Once you’ve been to the farmers market as a family you will be amazed at the connections your children make to their food and the environment. Creating connections is so important for young children.
