Happy New Year

SHM Camp will be open to ALL children during February mid-winter break! All week our camp days will be dedicated to creating warm and yummy comfort foods.

Each day, campers will learn mise en place; having all of the ingredients prepped before cooking -onions are diced, seasonings are measured, broth has been portioned, etc. It also includes gathering all of the equipment they'll need to prepare the dish. With the ingredients peeled, chopped, and portioned and the required pots and pans laid out, campers learn to be more organized and efficient, and are far less likely to accidentally add an ingredient twice or scramble to find a forgotten ingredient. Campers learn that all of this upfront preparation actually ends up saving time in the long run. Older campers will also learn food plating and photography.

Culinary Comfort week will give campers opportunities to create fun and delectable bites! After food prepping, campers will start making delicious food with a gourmet flare. Five days with us and your kid will make specialty grilled-cheese, pizzas, pot pies, chili, and sweet and savory desserts. But why do we call these types of dishes comfort food? How does eating comfort food make you feel? How can food make us feel good, happy, or even warm?

Mid-Winter Recess camp is open to any current/non-SHM child, ages 2 - 5 years old. Camp will run for the entire week beginning on Monday, February 19th, and ending on Friday, February 23rd, 2024. Registration is due by Monday, February 12th, 2024, at 3:00pm.
